Degree, Transformation of Degrees, Superlative to Comparative & Positive
Adjective যখন অন্য ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর সঙ্গে তুলনা করে তখন তাকে Degree বলে।
Grading এর সাপেক্ষে Adjective & Adverb দুই প্রকার।
1. Gradible Adjectives & Adverbs
2. Non-gradible Adjectives & Adverbs
শুধু Gradible Adjectives &Adverbs গুলোর Degree হয়।
Kinds of Degree :
1. Positive : সাধারণত যে Adjectives কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর সঙ্গে তুলনা করা হয় না তাকে Positive Degree বলে।
মনে রাখতে হবে Adjective এর মূল form হলো Positive Degree.
2. Comparative Degree : যে Adjective দুই জন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর সঙ্গে তুলনা করা বুজায় তাকে Comparative Degree বলে। এক্ষেত্রে Adjective এর Comparative form এবং তার পরে than any other / than most other/ All other
Note: যখন দুজন ব্যক্তির selection করা বুঝায় তখন comparative Degree এর পূর্বে The এবং পরে of বসে।
3. Superlative Degree: Adjective যখন দুই বা দুইয়ের অধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর সঙ্গে তুলনা করা বুঝায় তখন তাকে Superlative Degree বলে। এক্ষেত্রে আমরা Adjective এর Superlative Form এবং তার পূর্বে the/ one of the বসে।
💠 সাধারণ নিয়মে Adjective এর শেষে ER যোগ করলে, Comparative form হয়া
Example : Large + er = Larger, short+ er = Shorter, Tall+ er = Taller.
🔷আবার, Adjective এর শেষে est যোগ করলে Superlative Form হয়।
Example : large+ est = Largest, short+est= Shortest,
Tall+est = Tallest.
Note: adjective টি যখন one syllable না হয়ে অধিক Syllable হয়ে অধিক Syllable হয় তখন comparative degree এর ক্ষেত্রে more
Example : more+ beautiful = more beautiful, More + ferocious = more ferocious, more + fashionable = more fashionable.
Superlative Degree এর ক্ষেত্রে most বসে।
Example : most+ beautiful = most beautiful, more + ferocious = More ferocious, most+ fashionable = most fashionable
🔘 Rule-1: One of the যুক্ত Superlative degree কে comparative degree & Positive degree তে Transformation বা (রূপান্তর) করার নিয়ম।

Superlative : one of the + Superlative form
Comparative : comparative form + than most other
Positive: very few
Superlative to Comparative : (one of the যুক্ত)
➡️ Subject + be verb + ( one of the উঠে যাবে) C/F + than most other + বাকী অংশ.
⚛️ Superlative : Dhaka is one of the biggest cities in Bangladesh.
☯️ Comparative : Dhaka is bigger than most other cities in Bangladesh.
⚛️ Superlative : Kuakata is one of the most beautiful places in Bangladesh.
☯️ Comparative :Kuakata is more beautiful than most other places in Bangladesh.
Superlative to Positive : (one of the. যুক্ত)
➡️ Very few + Superlative form এর পরের অংশ + be verb (plural) + as/so + P.F+ as+ Subject.
⚛️ Superlative : Toronta is one of the most expensive cities of the world.
☯️ Very few cities of the world are as expensive as Toronta.
⚛️ Superlative : The rose is one of the finest flowers.
☯️ Positive : Very few flowers are as fine as the rose.
🔘 Rule-2: the যুক্ত Superlative degree কে comparative degree & Positive degree তে Transformation বা (রূপান্তর) করার নিয়ম।
To identify :
Superlative : the + Superlative form
Comparative :comparative form+ than any other
Positive: No other
Superlative to Comparative :
➡️ Subject + be verb + ( the উঠে যাবে) C/F + than any other + বাকী অংশ.
⚛️ Superlative: Books are the best friend.
☯️ Comparative: Books are better than any other friend.
⚛️ Superlative : Cox’s Bazar is the longest sea-beach in the world.
☯️ Comparative : Cox’s Bazar is longer than any other sea-beach in the world.
Superlative to Positive : (the. যুক্ত)
🔘 Rule -3: No other+ Superlative form এর পরের অংশ + be verb + as/so + P.F+ as+ Subject.
⚛️ Superlative : Poverty is the greatest problem in our country.
☯️ Positive : No other problem is as great as poverty.
⚛️ Superlative : Akber is the greatest king in India.
☯️ Positive : No othe king is as great as Akber.
🔘Rule- 4 : দুটি ব্যক্তি বা জিনিসের মধ্যে তুলনা বোঝাতে positive থেকে comparative করার নিয়ম।
➡️Positive to Comparative করার নিয়ম :
▶️Positive degree হ্যাঁ বোধক হলে Comparative degreeনা বোধক।
▶️Positive degree না বোধক হলে comparative degree হ্যাঁবোধক।
✅Object + be verb + not + C.F+ than + Subject
(as--as উঠেযাবে)
⚛️Positive : The man is as strong as a lion.
☯️Comparative : A lion is not stronger than the man.
⚛️Positive : Dhaka is not as more beautiful as Paris.
☯️Comparative : Paris is more beautiful than Dhaka.
